I am a licensed massage therapist who has been practicing for 8 years. My interest in the human body led me to a career in bodywork. I began my education at CSU Fresno where I took anatomy, physiology and kinesiology classes. I received my B.S. in physical education and was on the road to entering the Master's program & Credential program so I would be able to teach PE but, I hesitated, I felt I needed a change, something else was calling me.
Little did I know that massage therapy was calling.
After receiving my first massage in 1999 I was hooked. I started receiving massage on a weekly basis and before I knew it my weekly migraines were gone, my posture was better and I was experiencing a better more healthful life. I knew I had found what I had been searching for.
I attended massage school at Santa Barbara Bodyworks. I began with the basic Swedish massage course and once completed I opened my own practice in Santa Barbara. I finally really enjoyed going to work every day. I wanted to know more about how to help people with chronic pains and acute discomforts. I enrolled in advanced classes and I am now certified in Swedish, sports massage, chair massage, deep tissue/neuromuscular therapy, pregnancy massage,Thai table and mat massage and hot stone massage.
Everyone differs in the type of massage they like to receive from the pressure to the goal of the massage, be it for relaxation or for pain relief. It is important to communicate your goals so you can have the best massage possible.
